Caroline P Le 26th Lorne Cancer Conference 2014

Caroline P Le

Caroline Le received a Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Sciences from Monash University in 2010 and is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Dr Erica Sloan’s group at the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences where she received her PhD in 2014. Caroline’s work involves using pre-clinical models of cancer and longitudinal in vivo animal imaging to assess the effect of chronic stress on cancer progression. During her PhD, Caroline was in involved in developing a novel method to directly visualize lymph flow in vivo and in real time. Her work demonstrated a key role for stress signaling in altering lymphatic vasculature to promote tumor cell spread. These findings have informed a randomized clinical trial at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre which aims to test the validity of blocking stress signaling in cancer patients to improve cancer outcome.
